BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 27, 2019) – The Albany State University women's basketball teams will make their 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament appearance on Thursday, February 28th as they face the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex.
The Golden Rams (9-17) and the Thorobreds (14-13) last met on November 26, where ASU secured a 72-69 overtime victory.
Four Golden Rams players reached double-figures in the win, led by Alexandria James who finished with 17 points including a jumper with 13 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and force overtime.
Trailing by one point with 18 seconds to go in overtime, Yolanda Givens made a contested layup to give Albany State (2-6, 2-0) the lead. ASU then forced a turnover and Givens iced the game by making two free throws after being fouled.
Uchemdirim Ibebunjo posted a double-double performance, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Brooke Wallace had a game-high 21 points for Kentucky State (3-4, 0-2).
