COLUMBUS, Ga. | Albany State was back in action for Day 2 of the CSU Cougar Classic on Saturday at Columbus State University.
Game 1 vs Georgia Southwestern State University
After giving up three runs in the top of the 1st inning, ASU responded with two runs of their own off of a two RBI triple from Megan Shepherd.
The two teams were both scoreless until the 4th when GSW managed five runs on five hits to pull away and eventually take the game 8-4.
Jordynne Baranello scored two runs for the Golden Rams. Lavette Tucker and Mikiyah Harris both had two hits.
Aryn McGowan (1-6) pitched all 7.0 innings in the loss, striking out six batters.
Game 2 vs Union University
The Golden Rams stormed out to an early lead after Tucker earned a two out walk in the top of the 1st and Shepherd followed with a home run to left field.
The Bulldogs answered back in the home half, plating seven runs on nine hits including a two RBI double from Kaitlyn Kelley.
Jala Stewart went 1-for-2 in the contest for ASU.
Lauren Lowery (1-6) took the loss for the Golden Rams.Â
ASU (2-12) will host a doubleheader with Georgia College on Wednesday, February, 20th at Golden Rams' Field at West Campus. First game is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
