Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Women's Basketball (2-4) picked up a win in the Bobcats' Monday contest over Albany State University (1-6) with a 57-51 effort.
Alexandria James led the Golden Rams 17 points and
Tyra Thompson chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
Ciera Norman finished the contest with nine points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Bobcats got 11 points each from Dail Adaway and Keyonna Wesley. Adaway chipped in nine rebounds and three blocks to fill the boxscore. Kenyatta Storms added 10 points, five boards and five assists with three steals.
The Bobcats trailed 16-8 at the end of the first quarter, but scratched and clawed back into it, taking the lead for the first time mid-way through the second quarter. The teams traded buckets from there and reached the halftime horn knotted up 23-23.
More back-and-forth play came for the length of the third quarter, as a pair of Georgia College free-throws gave GC a 39-37 advantage heading into the fourth.
Ciera Norman gave ASU a lead with 2:16 left on a lay-in from the right side, but Wesley answered with a three-point dagger to take the lead back 50-49. Vick finished with nine points.
The Bobcats were good on free throws down the stretch, going 5-for-6 from the line for the final minute of play to seal the win, evening the season series after falling at ASU Nov. 20.
The Golden Rams are back in action Monday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m., as they host Tuskegee University in a SIAC matchup in the West Campus Arena.
