ALBANY, Ga. (October 19, 2019) - The Golden Rams of Albany State University got the job done knocking off the Tigers of Benedict College 7-2 on Saturday evening. The victory sets Albany State's overall mark at 5-2, 4-0 in SIAC play.
Dionte Bonneau threw for 11 yards, completing two-of-six passes.
McKinley Habersham rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown. Defensively,
Brendan Kimble and
Tyler Scott paced the Golden Rams with seven tackles.
Benedict (0-6, 0-3 SIAC) games leading receiver was Freeman who finished with one reception and three yards. Tensley and Siaosi led the Tigers with eight tackles each respectively.
Albany State's
McKinley Habersham put the Golden Rams on the scoreboard first at the 3:07 mark of the first quarter, boasting an 80-yard run to find the end zone for the 7-0 lead. The Tigers of Benedict College collected a safety at the 13:35 mark in the second quarter to add its only points in the contest. Impressive work by the Dirty Blue defense cause the Tigers to fumble the ball in the contest. The defensive held Benedict College to only 109 to offensive yards.
ASU finished the competition with 207 total offensive yards and were 2 of 11 on third down conversions. ASU finished the contest with 10 first downs and had a total of 196 total rushing yards and secured one rushing touchdown.
The Golden Rams will travel to Savanah, Georgia for a SIAC Conference matchup against Savannah State University on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
