OFFICIAL: Inclement Weather Delays Albany State-Benedict College Kickoff

ALBANY, Ga. | The Albany State University football game against Benedict College has officially been delayed due to Tropical Storm Nestor. With the game being delayed, kickoff from the ASU Coliseum is now set for 5 p.m. 

 

"Based on the latest information and projections we have received regarding Tropical Storm Nestor, we feel it was necessary to ensure the safety of everyone involved," said Albany State University Interim Director of Athletics Jackie Nicholson. "The safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans is paramount to any athletic contest and we must do our part to ensure their safety throughout the weather event." 

 

Albany State (4-2 overall, 3-0 SIAC) is coming off a thrilling 33-13 homecoming victory last Saturday against the Dragons of Lane College. The Golden Rams are on a four-game winning streak securing victories over the University of West Georgia, Clark Atlanta University, Tuskegee University and Lane College.

 

Benedict College (0-5, 0-2), are looking to make their mark and secure the first victory of the season. The Tigers suffered a tough 21-24 loss to Miles College on October 12th.

 

The Golden Rams currently hold a 6-1 series advantage over the Tigers of Benedict College. The last meeting between the two-school met was October 27, 2018 where the Golden Rams secured a 21-0 victory. 

 

Benedict College collected its first victory of the series on the October 28,2017 where they collected a 17-12 victory over the Golden Rams. 

 

Kickoff from the ASU Coliseum is set for 5 p.m. on Saturday and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
