LATE LEAD FALTERS IN ATLANTA

ATLANTA, Ga. | Albany State made the trek up Interstate 75 to Atlanta for a conference showdown with the Panthers of Clark Atlanta.  

The Golden Rams carried an 18 point lead into the fourth quarter behind white hot shooting that included going 18-of-31 (58%) from the field and 5-of-8 (63%) from 3-point range in the first half. 

The ASU defense was stout in the first half, holding the Panthers to 28 percent (7-of-25) from the field.

The Clark Atlanta offense came alive in the fourth, starting the quarter with a 17-3 run. ASU maintained a lead until 13 seconds remaining when Reagan Jackson hit a jumper to give the Panthers their first lead of the game.

Tyra Thompson had a potential go-ahead shot attempt blocked with five seconds remaining and Carrington Lee missed a game-winner at the buzzer.

Alexandria James led Albany State (5-14, 4-5) with 18 points. Ashley Johnson added 12 points and Tyra Thompson finished with 10 points.

Jackson had a game-high 28 points for Clark Atlanta (4-15, 3-7).

ASU will have the week off before hosting conference rival Benedict College on Saturday, January 26th. Tip off is set for 1:00 pm.
