GOLDEN RAMS EARN TWO WINS AT SIAC CROSSOVER

ALBANY, Ga. | Day 2 of the SIAC Crossover saw Albany State once again compete in three conference matchups. The Golden Rams kicked off the day by taking on Miles College followed by a clash against the defending SIAC champions, Kentucky State. ASU wrapped up the day with a contest versus LeMoyne-Owen College.

Game 1 vs Miles College

Albany State (3-10, 3-2) dropped the first set to the Golden Bears but bounced back to win three straight sets and take the match 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-17. The Golden Rams outhit their foe .228 to .085 and recorded a season-high 15 aces.

Jannai Cheeks (14), Keonna Hobbs (12), and Jordyn Terrell (12) all recorded double digit kills in the win. Ciara Chapman recorded 50 assists and four blocks.

Na'Kina Levingston and Raiana Johnson led Miles (3-8, 2-6) with six kills each.

Game 2 vs Kentucky State University

The Thorobred attack proved too much for the Golden Rams as the 3-time defending SIAC champions took the match 25-18, 25-21, 13-25, 25-23.

Albany State (3-11, 3-3) was paced by Yadira Lyons who registered 13 kills and three blocks.

Ariandria Greathouse had 13 kills for Kentucky State (11-16, 7-2).

Game 3 vs LeMoyne-Owen College

The Golden Rams ended the day with a 3-1 win over the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen. ASU used their second best hitting percentage of the season (.241) to outscore the Magicians 25-16, 25-22, 25-27, 25-19.

Cheeks finished with 17 kills for Albany State (4-11, 4-3) while Lyons added 16 kills. Chapman had her second 50-plus assist game of the day for the Golden Rams (52).

Jasmine Davis had a game-high 20 kills for LeMoyne-Owen (3-16,-2-5).

The Golden Rams wrap up play in the SIAC Crossover on Saturday with a single match versus Tuskegee. Game time is set for 11 am.
