SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT GEORGIA COLLEGE

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA- Georgia College rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Albany State University Thursday evening at the Peeler Complex.

The Bobcats defeated the Golden Rams 7-0 and 5-2 to lift their season record to 22-10.

Georgia College combined for 24 hits in the doubleheader to plate their 12 runs against Albany State.

Georgia College scored in all but one inning to earn a 7-0 shutout in the opener of the doubleheader. Jessie Morris went the distant for the Bobcats, fanning eight batters while only yielding only three hits to ASU.

Leading 4-0 through five and half, the Bobcats put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth off two hits and one error. Hannah Coursey, who notched a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the second, finished the game with three hits and three RBI to lead the charge for Georgia College.

In game two, the Bobcats plated two runs in their first at bat, one in the third and two more in the sixth to complete the doubleheader sweep.

The Golden Rams threatened with a rally in their final trip to the plate. Megan Shepherd singled to left field to score Lavette Tucker then Demeshia Russell's sacrifice fly to left field brought in Jala Stewart to cute the Rams deficit to three (5-2).

Bobcat relief pitcher Becca Meade, who came in to get the first two outs, got Brianna Murrillo to fly out to right field to end the game.

ASU (14-18) will return to action in conference play against Clark-Atlanta University April 7-8 in Atlanta, Georgia.
