ALBANY, Ga. | Albany State concluded their regular season on Friday as they visited the Lions of Paine College. The Golden Rams came out on top by a score of 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 31-29).Â
With the victory, Albany State (12-13, 12-4) clinches the SIAC East regular season title and will be the number one seed from their division at the conference tournament next week.Â
Jannai Cheeks led the way with 18 kills for the Golden Rams followed by Jordyn Terrell who finished with 16 kills. Keonna Hobbs added 10 kills. Ciara Chapman had 46 assists and three aces.
Lanica Phillips had 14 kills for Paine (12-9, 8-7) and Ayanna Harrison had a game-high 17 digs.
Albany State now turns to the postseason where they will compete in the 2018 SIAC Volleyball Championship Tournament. The event will take place at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. and begin on Monday, November 5th, and conclude on Wednesday, November 7th. The Golden Rams will play LeMoyne-Owen, the number four seed out of the West, on the first day at 10:00 am on Court 1. In their lone matchup this season, Albany State defeated the Magicians 3-1 at the SIAC Crossover.
