FAST START LEADS ECKERD COLLEGE PAST LADY RAMS 73-54

ST. PETERSBURG, FL- Eckerd College leveraged a big scoring first half to cruise past Albany State University 73-54 Tuesday night in non-conference basketball action.
The loss to the Tritons was the second game of a back-to-back road trip for the Lady Golden Rams who fall to 7-8 overall on the season.
Elesha Foster paced ASU with 20 points while
Kayla Green went for 14 points.
Eckerd used a dominating performance on the boards, out-rebounding the Lady Golden Rams 40-29 including 13 off the offensive glass. They opened the game with a 12-2 run and kept the lead the entire way. Albany State cut the score to single digits with two free throws from
Elesha Foster with 2:01 left in the opening quarter but EC closed the first with another run to reclaim a double digit lead 19-6.
Eckerd (10-2) would hold their double digit advantage for the rest of the contest. The largest lead of twenty six points (52-26) came with five minutes left in the third quarter after a layup from Kacie Juday. Yarden Danan topped all scorers with 23 points off the bench.
Albany State will return to action in a SIAC tilt against LeMoyne-Owen on Friday, December 29
th in Memphis, TN. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
