Lady Rams fall to Georgia College twice

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team could not generate much offense on Wednesday afternoon. As a result, ASU lost a doubleheader to Georgia College by the scores of 4-1 and 9-1. With the pair of losses, the Lady Rams are now 14-30 overall.

While Georgia College scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and another one in the fifth, ASU did not place a single run on the scoreboard until the final inning.
 
Toni Coleman scored the Lady Rams only run in the game. She hit a homerun that allowed the team to avoid a shutout.
 
Albany State had four hits for the game and committed one error. Ambrionna Atkism was the losing pitcher.

After the Lady Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, ASU tied the game in the top of the fourth. Coleman hit her second homerun of the day to make sure the Lady Rams remained in contention.
 
However, Albany State allowed eight runs courtesy of some errors between the fourth and fifth innings. The game was called at the end of the fifth due to the eight-run rule.
 
For the game, ASU recorded two hits and five errors. Tiffany Massey took the mound loss.
 
Albany State will return to action April 16-17 when it travels to Fort Valley, Ga. The Lady Rams will face archrival Fort Valley State in an SIAC three-game series. Game times for Saturday are 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday's game will begin at 4 p.m.
