Lady Rams Softball falls to Georgia College

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team could not extend its win streak to three games on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Rams lost a doubleheader to Georgia College, dropping the first game 6-3 before being shut out 9-0 in the nightcap.
 
With the loss, ASU is now 3-12 overall. Georgia College improves to 22-4.

Georgia College opened the game by taking an early 2-0 lead. Albany State answered in the bottom of the first inning. Toni Coleman belted a double to score Malea Maye and cut the team's deficit to 2-1.
 
In the top of the third inning, the Lady Bobcats added two more runs to take a 4-1 edge. ASU made the score 4-2 in the bottom of the inning when Maye hit a homerun over center field. GC scored two more runs in the top of the fifth for a 6-2 advantage.
 
The Lady Rams scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brishanti Weaver recorded a double of her own, and Toni Coleman came home to account for the final score.
 
Maye led Albany State two hits. ASU tallied seven total hits and committed two errors. Tiffany Massey was the losing pitcher.

The Lady Bobcats took advantage of several ASU errors to earn the win after five innings. Georgia College scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings while the Lady Rams couldn't generate any offense to keep pace.
 
Albany State recorded five hits and committed six errors for the game. Ambrionna Atkism took the mound loss.
 
Albany State returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 9 when it hosts Emmanuel College in a doubleheader. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m.
