Lady Rams fall to Georgia College in road contest

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Albany State women's basketball team attempted to extended its winning streak to two games on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams were defeated 77-50 by the Georgia College Lady Bobcats, who won the Nov. 22 meeting 45-44.
                           
With the loss, ASU falls to 1-6 overall. Georgia College improves to 5-1.
 
Albany State was able to stay in contention throughout the first half. After the first quarter, the Lady Rams only trailed 16-14. At halftime, ASU was behind 30-23.
 
In the third quarter, Albany State could not find any offense. Georgia College outscored their visitors 27-6 in the stanza to take a commanding 57-29 advantage.
 
Zuri Frost led Albany State with 15 points and six rebounds. Ciera Norman came off the bench to score 11 points in six minutes of actions.
 
The Lady Rams shot 16-of-59 (27.1) from the field, 6-of-23 (26.1) from three-point range and 12-of-17 (70.6%) from the free throw line.
 
LaRice Walker scored a game-high 17 points for Georgia College. Ta'Asia Wight and Ana Anderson added 12 points apiece.
 
The Lady Bobcats shot 31-of -58 (53.4%) from the field, 8-of-20 (40%) from the three-point range and 7-of-13 from the free throw line.
 
Albany State will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6 when it travels to Columbus, Ga. to face Columbus State University. The Lady Cougars won the Nov. 18 meeting 80-56. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
