Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lady Ram Volleyball can’t tame Benedict Lady Tigers

ALBANY, Ga.- Chelona Holmes recorded 10 kills and four digs, but the Albany State women's volleyball team was unable to snap its losing streak. ASU dropped a 3-0 decision to SIAC East Division foe Benedict College and extended its losing streak to three games.

With the loss, the Lady Rams, who are currently in fourth place in the division, fall to 10-10 overall and 7-5 in the SIAC. Second-place Benedict improves to 8-7, 6-4.

Albany State found offense difficult to generate during the three games. The Lady Rams found themselves trailing by double digits in each set, but were able to make late rallies in first two contests. ASU eventually lost the three games 25-19, 25-18 and 25-14.

Albany State setter Jahkishma Soto finished the match with 23 assists and five digs. Kiara Thompson led the team defensively with 13 digs.

The Lady Tigers were led by V'Aira Harris, who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Aaliyah Lawson and Taylor Stephens added eight and seven kills, respectively. Setter Brianne McMillan had 24 assists.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Oct. 11 when they travel to Mobile, Ala. to face Spring Hill College in a non-conference matchup. The contest is set to begin at 6 p.m. (central time).
