Lady Rams unbeaten on first day of SIAC Crossover

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ALBANY, Ga- The Albany State Lady Rams extended their win streak to four games after gathering a few wins in the 2015 SIAC Women's Volleyball Crossover Tournament. Playing the host role for the event, ASU defeated Central State University 3-0 (25-13, 25-12 and 25-13) in its morning session before knocking off Stillman 3-2 (23-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-21 and 19-17) in a highly-contested midday match. The Lady Rams ended the day with a 3-1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-20) victory over LeMoyne-Owen.
 
Albany State is now 4-7 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC.

In an early morning matchup with the newest member of the SIAC, Albany State welcomed the Lady Marauders by making short work of them. The Lady Rams jumped out to early leads in all three sets and never let CSU into contention.
 
Chelona Holmes led ASU with eight kills, and Brittianni Phillips added six more. Setter Tiffany Roesler had 30 assists and seven kills. Kaliah Carter recorded 10 digs to lead the team defensively.

After Stillman took Game 1 25-23, the Lady Rams dominated the next two sets to take a commanding 2-1 advantage. Stillman was able to slip past ASU in the next game to tie the match at 2-2. Albany State finally was able to squeak by the Lady Tigers in the fifth frame with a 19-17 win.
 
Holmes was the top offensive player again with 20 kills. Phillips and Jahkishma Soto each had 13 kills, and Keonna Hobbs added 12 more. Soto also recorded 13 digs.
 
Roesler set a new-career high with a whopping 64 assists. Carter also had a career personal best with 38 digs. Holmes (10), Roesler (12), and Kiara Thompson (13) also reached double digits in digs.

Albany State bolted to a 25-9 win in Game 1, but the Lady Magicians tied the match at 1-1 in the second stanza. ASU regrouped over the next two games to complete the sweep on the first day of competition.
 
Justice Howard was at the top of the ledger offensively with 11 kills, while Holmes was right behind her with 10. Hobbs and Phillips each had eight kills. Roesler recorded 46 assists, and Carter added 14 digs.
