Lady Rams Basketball falls to Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga.- Artisha Holston scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down six rebounds, but the Albany State Lady Rams lost to the Columbus State Lady Cougars 81-46 on the final day of the Peach Belt/SIAC Challenge. With the loss, ASU falls to 0-2 on the young season. CSU improves to 2-0 overall.
 
Albany State fell behind early and could not recover. Unable to find early offense, the Lady Rams trailed 24-11 after the first quarter. The deficit grew by halftime, and ASU was behind 48-21 when intermission arrived.
 
The Lady Rams did score 15 points in the third stanza, but they still trailed 67-36 at the start of the fourth quarter.
 
Keidra Green added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Elesha Foster had 10 points and six rebounds.
 
The Lady Rams shot 19-of-56  (33.9 percent) from the field, 3-of-15 (20 percent) from three-point range and 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) from the free throw line. The team also committed 21 turnovers.
 
Gabby Williams led Columbus State with a team-high 16 points. Michelle Mitchell, 13, Ashley Asouzu, 11, and Britteny Tatum, 10, also reached double figures for the Lady Cougars.
 
Albany State returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 when it hosts Valdosta State University. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
