Lady Rams beat Miles for fourth straight win

Albany, GA- Junior guard Ieshia Young continued her hot shooting streak with 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 67-54 victory over the Miles College Lady Bears. With the win, ASU has won its fourth straight game and improves to 6-8 overall and 5-2 in the SIAC. Miles falls to 2-9, 1-5.
 
Still showing effects of its Thursday overtime game, Albany State started slowly.  The Lady Rams trailed in the early moments of the game, and were the victims of early foul trouble. However, ASU was still able to build a 22-16 lead at the 9:54 mark of the half.
 
Miles was able to stay in the game during the first half due to 16 of 20 firing from the free throw line. Utilizing the huge advantage in that area, the Lady Bears rallied to take a 35-34 halftime advantage.
 
In the second half, the two teams continued to go back and forth early. Leading 53-50 with 6:59 left in regulation, the Lady Rams used a 12-0 run to break the game open.
 
Keidra Green finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals. Artisha Holston added 14 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. Point guard Mecca Frost narrowly recorded a triple-double with six points, 16 assists and nine rebounds.  She also had three steals.
 
The Lady Rams shot 30-of-67 from the field, 0-of-3 from three-point range, and 7-of-13 from the free throw line.
 
Albany State returns to action on Thursday, January 22nd when it travels to Columbia, South Carolina to face the Benedict College Lady Tigers. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
