Game Day RAM-blings- Albany State vs. Tuskegee

The Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams and the Tuskegee University (TU) Golden Tigers will meet Saturday, September 13th in the 1st Annual White Water Classic in Phenix City, Alabama. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.

The Golden Rams and Golden Tigers will meet for the 41^st time in the series. Tuskegee leads the series 21-18-1. The two teams met in 2013 when Tuskegee defeated Albany State 19-13.

ASU was selected by SIAC coaches to finish first in the SIAC East Division and to win the overall conference title. The Golden Rams have won the SIAC crown in 15 seasons: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2013. TU was selected by the SIAC coaches to win the SIAC West Division. The Golden Tigers have won 29 SIAC titles.

Albany State is coming off a season-opening 38-10 loss to in-state rival Valdosta State. Quarterback Frank Rivers complete 20 of 35 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, linebacker Tavarius Washington led Albany State with 13 tackles, 10 of which were solo. Larry Whitfield added nine tackles (five solo) and a pass breakup. Nick Scott also had seven tackles for the Golden Rams

Last week, Tuskegee lost to Division I Alabama A&M 30-17. Quarterback Justin Nared was 12-30 passing for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Marquel Gardner caught five of those passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, including an 87-yard reception. Linebacker Jawell Ratliff led the Golden Tigers on the defensive end with 11 tackles and a sack.
