Lady Rams fall to Columbus State in SIAC-PBC Challenge

Albany, GA- Sophomore forward Artisha Holston scored 10 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, but the Albany State Lady Rams dropped a 63-44 decision to the Columbus State Lady Cougars on the final day of the 2014 SIAC-Peach Belt Classic. With the loss, ASU falls to 0-2 on the year. Columbus State improves to 6-0.
 
Albany State jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first half. However, the Lady Rams went cold and were not able to gather many points from that moment. At the 5:49 mark, ASU found itself trailing by double figures at 26-10. The Lady Rams trailed 30-18 at intermission.
 
In the second half, Albany State trailed 35-24 with 16:05 remaining in the game before going on an 8-0 run to cut its deficit to 35-32 with 13:21 left to play. A few minutes later, CSU hit a three-pointer to push its lead to 41-34, but Keidra Green answered with a trey of her own to bring the Lady Rams within four again, 41-37.
 
From that moment, the Lady Cougars went on a 15-3 run over the next six minutes to take a 56-40 advantage with 4:37 remaining in the contest. ASU couldn't recover to make another serious rally.
 
Mecca Frost and Keidra Green each added eight points for the Lady Rams. Frost also had six assists.
 
The Lady Rams shot 19 of 47 (40.4) from the field, 3 of 15 (20.0) from the three-point range, and 3 of 14 (21.4) from the free throw line. They also committed 29 turnovers.
 
Albany State returns to action on Tuesday, December 2nd when they travel to Melbourne, Florida to take on Florida Tech. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
