Albany State Game Day RAM-blings- Paine College

The Albany State University Golden Rams and the Paine College Lions will meet Saturday, October 4th in Augusta, Georgia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Lucy C. Laney Football Stadium.

 
The Golden Rams and Lions will meet for the 14th time in the series. Albany State leads the series 11-2-2. Paine won the first game of the series 6-20 in 1949. The two programs last played in 1962, and ASU won 41-0.  Paine will be in its first year of competitive football after a 52-year hiatus and playing as a club team last season.

 
Albany State is coming off a 14-7 victory over Miles College. Quarterback
Frank Rivers finished 14-22 for 142 yards. Jarvis Small rushed 20 times for 106 yards, his second consecutive game with at least 100 yards. Freshman wide receiver Yancy Burns caught five passes for 70 yards. Defensively, junior linebacker Tavarius Washington recorded a game-high 13 tackles (11 solo) and a forced fumble. Nick Scott added eight tackles, and Larry Whitfield had seven tackles (six solo), a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

 
Last week, Paine lost to Morehouse College 10-20 at home. Quarterback Loranzo Hammond was 23-34 with 196 yards and three interceptions. Wide receiver Ausin Beamus caught nine passes for 84 yards. Demario Dixon led the PC defense with 14 tackles.
