Jillian Anderson and Sharme Ridley combined for 14 kills against Valdosta State University, but the Lady Rams lost the match 0-3 to the Lady Blazers Tuesday night at Albany State’s HPER Gymnasium. The Lady Rams lost 12-25, 19-25 and 18-25 and dropped to 9-7 overall.
Anderson, who recorded eight kills, led the Lady Rams with .538 attack percentage. Sharme added six kills and three service aces. Sabrina Garcia and Tiffany Butler added four kills each for the Lady Ram offense. Setter Desiree Hardy had 11 assists and Kenya Jolicoeur added eight.
Jennifer Johnson led the Lady Rams’ defense with 13 kills and Jolicoeur had four digs. Anderson also contributed to the defense, recording three blocks and three block assists, while Butler had four block assists.
For the Lady Blazers, Katie Onushko led with 11 kills and four block assists. Tania Tauiliili added nine kills and two block assists. Chelsea Luttfring led Valdosta State’s defense with nine digs. Ashley Lala recorded 35 assists and seven digs.
The Lady Rams will make road trips to Augusta, Ga. to play the Paine College Lady Lions on Oct. 6, Orangeburg, SC to face the Claflin University Lady Panthers on Oct. 7, and Columbia, SC to take on the Benedict College Lady Tigers on Oct. 10 in SIAC play. The Lady Rams will return home for SIAC matches against Claflin on Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., Benedict on Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m., and a non-conference match against Alabama A&M University on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.
