Albany, Ga. — The Albany State University women's volleyball team continued their strong late-season form with a decisive 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 26-24) win over Clark Atlanta University on Thursday evening inside HPER Gym. With the victory, the Lady Golden Rams improve to 12-11 overall and 11-3 in SIAC play.
Albany State controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing balance and composure on both sides of the court.
Josiya Teague led the offensive charge with 10 kills and a .389 hitting percentage, followed by
Jarianis Perez with eight kills and a .316 hitting mark. Middle blocker
Maya Ogbogu added four kills on .500 hitting efficiency, while
Erin Johnson contributed three kills and key defensive plays at the net.
The Lady Golden Rams' service game was once again a major factor, with
Myra Lopez recording a team-high seven service aces to fuel extended scoring runs.
Natalie Onozie dished out six assists and added two aces, while
Liannette Burgos directed the offense with 11 assists. On defense,
Talia Smith tallied three digs, and the front-line defense—led by Teague and Ogbogu—combined for 10 total blocks to stifle the Lady Panthers' attack.
With the victory, Albany State maintains its strong position near the top of the SIAC East Division standings and continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
